Mesa State College Flute Day with Rhonda Larson
Rhonda Larson was the featured artist for the Flute Day sponsored by the Mesa State College Flute Studio in Grand Junction, Colorado.
The day included a very special clinic that Rhonda has developed called "Rhythmic Rubrics". This is group participation with an engaging percussion
background leading, as participants focus on feeling rhythm in their bodies with various playing activities, and call-and-response phrase inventing. Liberated
from the written page, everyone plays by ear and expresses themselves with more character and style as inspired by this rhythmic convergence.
Rhonda concluded the day with a presentation of her "One Woman, a World of Music" concert
The coordinator of the event, Kristi Ballif, commented this event produced the largest attendance they've ever had and drew in attendees of all ages. She also said:
"Rhonda's passion for music is infectious! She inspired us to play from the heart and to remember why we are playing the flute. I think we all left a little more excited about music than before."
